LOT DETAILS

Materials:

oil on canvas

Size Notes:

100 x 100 cm

Markings:

signed P. DE RAVETONand dated MCMXXXVI (upper right)

Condition:

It has not been possible to see the work entirely unframed. The canvas is not lined and slightly loose. There is an uneven varnish preventing UV light from fully penetrating, however examination under UV light appears to reveal no evidence of retouching. There are several pinholes along the upper edge, probably related to previous framing. There are some areas of craquelure in places, most predominately to the red turban and to the drapery. There are a few tiny dots of paint losses towards the model's proper right hand and towards her proper right thigh. Surface is a bit dirty. There is frame rubbing along the extreme edges associated with some minor paint losses along the left edge. This work is in overall good condition and could benefit from a clean.
